The event, held at Egypt’s first BYD Technology Center in Sheikh Zayed, marks a strategic milestone in the country’s electric and hybrid vehicle sector.
BYD’s entry into Egypt aligns with its global vision to deliver smart, sustainable mobility solutions, leveraging its extensive experience across more than 100 countries. The Egyptian market represents a key hub within the brand’s regional expansion strategy, given its promising growth potential in electric and hybrid mobility.
The exclusive launch event brought together a select group of journalists and specialized content creators, providing a hands-on, interactive experience of BYD’s latest technologies, beyond conventional presentations. The Technology Center serves as a permanent platform for showcasing innovation, explaining advanced systems, and building local market confidence.
During the event, BYD introduced a lineup of electric and hybrid vehicles designed to meet everyday mobility needs while maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency. Highlights include the renowned Blade Battery technology, DM-i Plug-in Hybrid system, and support for European CCS2 charging standards.
BYD vehicles launched in Egypt feature advanced standard safety equipment, including six airbags, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), 360-degree surround-view cameras, and electronic stability control, ensuring a safe driving experience without compromise on technology or performance.
The vehicles also offer a smart, connected driving experience with rotating interactive screens, voice command systems, Internet connectivity, and support for Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™, catering to Egyptian consumers seeking comfort and cutting-edge technology.
The fully electric BYD Dolphin Surf, priced at EGP 849,900, is a compact city car providing a WLTP-rated range of 300 km, with fast charging from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes. It features a modern design and intelligent equipment, including V2L, smart key, and NFC support.
The BYD Sealion 6 EV, priced at EGP 1,549,900, is an electric SUV that balances performance, comfort, and technology, offering a 420 km range and advanced safety systems including full ADAS. It also delivers a comprehensive entertainment experience with nine speakers and Internet connectivity. Both models are offered with a complete ownership package, including a V2L external charging unit, home wall box charger, and portable charging cable, simplifying daily electric vehicle use.
In the hybrid segment, the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i Ultra, priced at EGP 1,749,900, features DM-i technology with a total driving range of 1,000 km, an 80 km electric range in EV mode, 260 hp total output, panoramic sunroof, electric tailgate, and ambient interior lighting. The Sealion 6 DM-i Luxury is available in both FWD and AWD configurations at EGP 1,949,900.
All Dolphin Surf and Sealion 6 models come with a comprehensive 6-year or 150,000 km warranty, an 8-year/200,000 km battery warranty, and six years of free roadside assistance. Additionally, BYD introduces the BOL – Ease of Ownership program, allowing customers to finance the battery over up to eight years, reflecting the brand’s commitment to reducing barriers to electric vehicle adoption and lowering operating costs by up to 83% compared to conventional vehicles, with maintenance costs reduced by up to 61% over four years.
